Marvelous Valencia, Spain

Valencia, the "City of Art and Science," is located on the Mediterranean coast at the mouth of the Turia River. It was founded by the Romans in 138 BC and was the historical capital of the former kingdom of Valencia. It’s been called the city of 100 Bell Towers, of which the most outstanding is the Gothic Miguelete tower. 

Valencian cuisine includes a wide variety of dishes. Paella, a delicious dish of rice and meat, is the most renowned Valencian dish. The original recipe calls for rice, green and white beans, chicken, rabbit and snail, and seasonings like saffron and rosemary.

Valletta, Malta

Friday, May 6 Flights were pretty good, but delayed an hour for mechanical out of Atlanta . So, late to Frankfurt , where I had to run to barely make the flight to Valletta, but my checked bag didn’t. Then a missed approach and a go-around made our landing here just a little more fun. After a nervous afternoon, my bag was later delivered to my hotel.  Malta, who knew !!! What a cool place, and BUSY with lotsa tourists. Checked into the  Grand Excelsior Hotel,  then, after a quick nap, walked downtown into the business/tourist area. Love this place. A lot! One could do a full vacation just here, and lots of people do. A pleasant walking tour of the old city included the scenes below.  History of the city, various conquests Norman Architecture The Dancing Satyr Bar Food   The People’s Theatre   War Memorial Waterfront RIP, Louie He loved our rides in the motorhome.  I just heard that my best little buddy finally gave it up yesterday. His heart just couldn’t continue. So he’s no longer coughing, no longer in pain. And I am really gonna miss him. Thanks for all your kind thoughts.
